Got it multi booting on my computer (along with MacOS, XP and two versions of Linux). I think as far as performance, it's comparable to XP. I think they did a lot of fixing up the stupid bullshit of Vista. I actually think this one is probably worth upgrading to.colemanyoungerinalaska wrote:anyone try windows 7 yet?

I have a c2q q6600 in this box @ 3GHz (mild OC) with a pair of SLI 9800GTX cards OCed (factory OC) and love it. I have a friend with an i7 @ 5.4GHz air cooled.
Itel is far beyond AMD at this point, and AMD doesn't have the resources anymore to catch up, although I wish them luck.

Vista bashing is old and most of it is unfounded.

I dont really perfer SLI, price vs. performance it really dosent add up in my opinion... But once i get this thing up and running ill do the benchmark tests and post them up on hereGlassWolf wrote:I have a c2q q6600 in this box @ 3GHz (mild OC) with a pair of SLI 9800GTX cards OCed (factory OC) and love it. SLI is good when you want faster gfx, and you already have the fastest cards on the market, which I did at the time I built that box. Or, SLI works well also, when you just want to add performance when the card prices drop, instead of blowing another $550 on the bleeding edge card that just came out.
Yeah the X is locked on the Q6600, but the bus isn't. Besides, you get more performance from increasing the bus speed, than from increasing the multiplier, anyway.
You can gain performance with lower clock speed and faster memory timings, too.
PS Windows 7 is really sweet. Vista without the overhead.
