blew my 2500d

Post by loudwagon15s »

well, after owning this amp for about 4 years, it finally took a poop today (i think) got in my car started playing at about 1/3 volume, the sub cuts out, and now all i get is a constant click from the sub (about 2 clicks per second) unplugged the rca's, same thing, getting proper voltage at amp. No burning smell or anything coming from the amp.
Anyone ever heard of this happening? or know which component(s) of the amp may be at fault?

Input section will typically do that. Make sure it wasn't the sub/source that went or something crazy.

the sub seems fine, though i'll check the coils when i take the amp out. i dont think its the source because it still happens when i unplug the rca's.

i'm not sure, because i can't remember if it has a different colored light for protect, but the amp light comes on. (red, like it has since i've owned it) I know the protection circuit works because it has in the past for low voltage when i had a bad ground about 2 yrs ago. For every thump there is enough current draw to cause a tiny bit of dimming.

i can't remember if those lil guys are caps or what, but i've never seen them with black tips like that, i can't smell anything burned or that smells like sulfur but they are really small so i'm guessing if they were the problem i wouldnt be able to smell it
