Do I need to get a two channel Amplifier?

Post by mrregency »

First time installing a sub woofer.
I bought this Chevy Silverado I saw I could put a custom fit low profiles sub woofer box under the backseat. I bought two 1500 W speakers and two 1500 W monoblock amplifiers. Now I am wondering if I am able to run a splitter off of the back of my receiver RCA outputs? Or how would I go about hooking up what I have to work with ? Without hurting the speaker or amplifier? Or should I be thinking of looking for a 3000 W output two channel amplifier?

Hi Welcome to the forum,

It might help if you list out the equipment you have.

From just how you described it above though, I don't see any issue using 1 amp per sub. Just make sure the specs you're looking at are both the RMS ratings. RMS wattage of the amp, and the RMS rating of the speakers.

As to your question about the splitter, yes that's the easiest way to get the signal to both amps. Some amps also have a pass-through feature, where it will send the singal to the next amp.

I got this new sound system pieces and parts off the Internet and thought I would go to one of the big box stores to see if they were able to finish up what I still needed and install it and they act like they just don’t want to do anybody else’s junk but for their own find quality stuff.
So I appreciate the help taking on my first sub and amp project.
