Back at it
Its been forever but Im about to dive back in. Currently driving a Chevy Silverado. The radio isnt to bad for stock, but Im missing the functionality I want- Android Auto. Im also missing a rear view camera. I also find that the stock radio just isnt loud enough.
Im just starting to piece it together. My first purchase were cheaper components. I opted for Focals.

Yup I even bought them from Crutchfield of all places. The tweeter install is going to be what takes time. Im planning on modeling a mount to fit stock location and 3D print it.
For the head unit Im going with Alpine ILX-W650. It has the creature features Im looking for plus EQ and time alignment.
Im still trying to decide on an amp and sub. Im obviously not doing comps or crazy loud anymore. Just looking for decent. Looking for a nice small amp.

Re: Back at it
Since I bought the Focals from Crutchfield they threw in goodies like the Scoshe plastic speaker adapters. What I wasnt aware of is that the stock speaker in my truck has the adapter housing built right in. Its inseperable. I also got the speaker plug adapters which is useful, for now.
I am in the process of finalizing the tweeter pods. The truck had tweeters in the A Pillars on convient little daimond shape pull outs. So I opened them up, set my tweeters in hot glue and drove it two days to make sure I liked the positioning. I then epoxied, removed hot glue and epoxied rest of the way. Filled bondo 2 times, multiple coats of high fill primer. Then I put a glaze coat on, which has screwed up the primer. lol. The things you forget and remember afterwards!
I would post pictures, but evidently Photobucket has changed a LOT since I last used it and my space here is so limited I cant upload anything further.
Im going to be ordering the Soundstream ST4-1000D amp soon. This will power the comps great. I need to find a set of 6 1/2's to toss in the rear doors.
https://www.amazon.com/Soundstream-ST4- ... way&sr=8-2
Next up will be the Alpine ILX-W650.
Oh I also did heated seats this weekend. That was a good time, not really. I spent two days leasiurely working on it. Happy with the end results.

Re: Back at it
I like the Focal speakers I got so I got the same thing but in coaxial form for the rear doors. I have really struggled in what amp to get. My initial thought was to get one of those mini amps, Soundstream. Then I went to Kicker key 180.4. I ended up going with a 5 channel Hertz HDP5. With 70wrms to each interior speaker it should prove ample. Then I get 400 wrms @ 4Ohm for my sub.
My next purchase will be the head unit. Probably won't happen until spring.

Things are looking good!
Were the seat warmers difficult to install?

Re: Back at it
They take a fair amount of patience to install. Now that it is cold out I love these things!
The Alpine ILX-W650 is installed. Just head unit powered makes the Focals sound great. I can't wait to get the amp on them. I have front and rear cameras and the amp to install. I haven't got the subs or box yet. Jury is still out on that.
Im struggling to find a spot to mount the amp. Right now my initial thought is in the front center 20 percent seat. Uber the seat cushion is a cubby. I would need to twice the plastic for it to fit. Heat buildup is my next concern.

Re: Back at it
Did you ever get this all done?
If you did, add your truck to the new main site. Really trying to get more vehicles on there with some pictures and content to go with them.
