kicker zx550.3 amp, 2 jlw1 12's, jl xr components

i already have 2 jl w1 12's brand new, and i want to get some componets and a new amp to run everything so im lookin at the Kicker KX550.3 (heres the specs)
3-Channel Amplifier with Class D 3rd Channel for Subwoofer(s)
RMS Power Rating:
4 ohms: 70 watts x 2 chan. + 210 watts x 1 Class D chan.
2 ohms: 85 watts x 2 chan. + 420 watts x 1 Class D chan.
Remote Bass Control (controls subwoofer channel only)
Selectable High Pass, Low Pass, Full-Pass Crossover
Input Sensitivity:
Low Level: 125mv-5v
High Level: 250mv-10v
4 AWG Power/Ground Leads

now heres my questions
1. The componets r 4ohms does that mean they will be 2 ohm to the amp getin 85 watts each or will it be 4ohm getin 70 watts each?
2. since the subs r only 150 rms each (4ohm svc), i should just keep the sub level down on the amp so i wont blow the subs right?
3. Im runing 4 awg wire to the battery from the amp, but 8awg from the ground should i replace that with 4awg?

# 1 The components are 4 ohm, so the amp will see 4 ohms.

# 2 Just keep the volume down. You will only reach that wattage right before the amp starts to clip. Is that the 12 or 14 volt rating, and is that RMS or max?

# 3 Yeah I would. A chain is only as strong as is weakest link.

Hey, this is funny, I've got almost the same setup. but I haev the kx550.3 and I want to get a single re se 12 instead.

14v, and the rms. BTW what exactly is ''CLIPPING" ive read that alot here but i dont know what it means

clipping is when your tryin to get more power than you have

Well kinda. Clipping is when your amp tries to put out more than the rails can handle. So it clips off the top part of your sine wave, producing a square wave.

Speakers don't like square waves.

clipping is where your normal round sine wave is now a sharp square, technically "doubling" the power to an extent, but with a distorted signal. this is very hard to explain verbally, look at http://www.bcae1.com under clipping and you can see the wave pattern im talking about, and a better explanation. this is how people blow subs with amps that are underpowering them.
