I have a JVC in my car. The KD-AVX1. I've tried Clarion, Kenwood, Pyle (of crap), Boss (more crap), and Pioneer. I love the JVC unit much better than those others.
Of course this unit is also out of the price range you've mentioned. but it's a damn good unit. From now on JVC is the only brand I'll use.
