Hi guys,
I've purchased some 6"5 comps and was wondering what the best and most effective way in modifing my car's standard 5"25 speaker door slots to fit these.
Could you guys maybe list methods of alteration and tools + techniques required to do this job.
Many many thanks to anyone who can help me out :)
Heres a pic of the door speaker locations...

keep the depth of the new speaker in mind...it may be to your benefit to do a small build out of 3/4" mdf and wrap it in vinyl or carpet...secure the build out to the door with screws and then mount the speaker with the new grill on top of it...there are many ways to do this that are far more complicated but this can look real nice when your done if you do it right and keep the shape of the build out so that it complements the door

Kinda ugly if it has to stick out. But for areas where it could be hidden thse items usually do the trick!

I don't think you would need to do any cutting. Before even doing that why not try creating a baffle. basically a simple mdf board (if you can 3/4") and place it over where the oem speaker goes and place the 6.5 over it. I'll be doing that with my 01 accord. What you have to always do is measure though and when you are deciding how thick your MDF is going to be make sure you roll your windows down so you can measure cleanly for clearance and also check the mounting depth of speaker. Id suggest buying some sound deadening while you're at it like fatmat or eDead from elemental designs.
