ehh... if you're testing that with a multimeter its never going to say exactly 2ohm, or 4ohm, or 8, or whatever. at the en dof the day, being a dealer for maxxsonics and part of the team, i'm pretty sure bill knows what he's talking about.

X2. You have to account for fluctuation in impedance. Many things cause this with any system. When you get your solo's in, test their coils, they will not ready 4 ohms, or 2 ohms, whichever you got. They will read under that. Bill knows what he is talking about when it comes to anything to do with Maxonics, or pretty much anything else. You did not lose your amps due to the impedance of those subs. Amps are rated for nominal impedance, they take into account fluctuation.

I understand that, but quite honestly I disagree. I ohm'd my L7's and they are coming back at about 2.1, 2 ohm is target. I hooked up the Kickers last night and let them play for a few hours before really running them hard. Plus I dont think that the Hifonics amp could run the 1 ohm they advertised, at least not very long.

1 major thing has happened, my amp has stopped overheating. I am running a fosgate BD1500, I know this is a separate issue, but it would shut down constantly with the Single Atlas, overheating and going into protection after about 10 minutes hard play, this morning driving to work (45 mins) no overheating, no shut downs, that never happened with the Atlas. And before you say it, the amp is well ventilated, mounted on blocks to vent the bottom.

As far as the box being wrong, I spoke at length with tech support at Maxxsonics anbout matching equipment, box specs, everything. The box was professionally built and tuned to the specs sent to my from Maxxsonics.

Also, for the record, I am not an SPL guy, I may be stupid in my sub purchase, but I am ultimatly aiming for SQ. I bought these kickers new, for 325 shipped, to me that was a good price. I listen to Mudvayne, Spilknot, Rob Zombie, Harry Connick Jr., and alot of Michael Savage. I love to hear pounding bass that has precision, I want to hear every kick of the bass drum.

My target system right now it a MMATS 1400.2 running 2 IDMAX 12" V3.

I hear good things about Image Dynamics as far as both SPL and SQ.

Important to say though, I come to you all humbly with very limited knowledge of SQ, and am seeking to learn more. I am however a very good electrician and may be a pain in the ass over electrical issues and theory.

Thank you for the replies, I look forward to more juicy info....

Sounds like the loss of your amp could have been a gain issue. With the box they were in I am almost positive that the impedence rise of the box would have had them well over 1 ohm.

Myself personally as a dealer, I have found All square subs to be inferior (sorry Bill)... You will never beat the design of a round sub and if you are leaning more towards SQ then the L7's or Atlas will never be in the top spots.
Right now in my opinion for the money the best has to be the Fusion NV's... there are alot out there but for SQ and at a good price... they are awesome.
