so i briefly tried grounding the rca's to the deck chassis and it got rid of the whine completely, the local shop said that would not hurt the deck at all, but i trust mr billz far more than them. I was thinking, what if i grounded the rca's to the high level speaker outputs?

It probably wont cost a whole lot to get your h/u fixed.. What kind is it again???

pioneer deh-4800mp only a 140 new, if it costs anything over 40-50 bucks i was thinkin of pickin up a panasonic

On the employees store site at work, (Panasonic Avionics) there are 9 CD decks ranging from about $115 to about $200 (+ tax, + shipping). The top model in the store is CQ-C800U which has a suggested retail of $330. The best selections aren't always in the employee store, but I can PM you with models/prices that are.
