the RE12 is a lower end sub. If you want high output look at the SE or SX lines instead if you want an RE sub. The RE line isn't going to beat a Type R in all likelyhood. You also won't get the same SPL as someone running mroe power, since every time you double the power to the speaker, you're adding +3dB as long as you're within the xmech of the driver. Once the speaker reaches it's peak excursion, you're at the limit regardless.
You're not going to get good SQ, and great SPL, and do it with low power in a small box without an upgraded electrical system. You can't pull current or SPL out of any random orifice. You always have to compromise, or pay for it somewhere, be that in enclosure size, power, or whatever. It's gotta come from somewhere.
No free lunches as they say.

loudest setup for me
ahh yes.. i understand that the RE is a lower end sub. my main problem with going with the SE/SX line is the price.... not tha ti'm trying to be cheap, but for a 16 year old in highschool working at mcdonalds with a father who thinks car audio is useless, $300 for 1 sub isn't doable. I really wish i could hear the RE's, but theres no dealers within like 800 miles of me... :PKikiTheCat wrote:the RE12 is a lower end sub. But yeah. i'm thinking alpine type-r or kicker cvr... since i've heard those in store... also, i'm not relaly looking for a huge setup that puts up 160dBs and sounds good doing it or what ever.. just something thats going to add alittle "bump" to my system... kinda hard for ome to describe reallly.
