The thing is, in the places hit with those other hurricanes, their population wasn't nearly as dependent on the government as many residents here.

Let's just say the first and fifteenth are important dates here.

They believe they don't have to work for a living and somehow get by...

The best thing is that this polition here, Oliver, has said that if people who were in the projects want to return, they MUST hold a job that benefits the city. The ONLY reason racism wasn't called was because Oliver is black. But they still tried to make him seem like a bad guy. He's definately got my vote.

I had a friend that volunteered to go down there, ended up helping in Houston.

They worked really hard setting a convention center up, had cots lain out for people. On the cots, there were bottled waters, toiletries, blankets, sheets. They had replumbed the bathrooms so people could take a hot shower. A local deli volunteered to supply food for all of these people at their expense.

People got there, started bitching because they didn't want water, they wanted coke, or tea. Didn't want a sandwich from the deli, we want pizza, or McDonalds. Stood around in circles cracking white boy jokes at the volunteers. Maybe 1/10th of the people said thank you for anything done for them, and most of that tenth were older people. There was a woman trying to move this huge mattress, and a bunch of young guys standing around watching her. My friend asked them if they'd help her since they were young, strong backs, etc., they started bitching about all they'd lost and that they weren't helping any damn body. There was a lot more that I don't care to remember, but it boils down to a complete lack of respect for anything given to them. Little shit like that the whole week he was down there.

I feel sorry for the people affected, but you get to a point where it isn't worthwhile to help someone that won't help themselves. Those type of people deserve to suffer a little bit just so they can appreciate something. Reminds me of that bumper sticker: "Work harder...millions on welfare depend on you!"

The media is liberal, they are gonna do anything they can to exploit Bush and try to humiliate him, make him look like a "poor president". When was the last time you saw a headline, a political cartoon, or read an article praising Bush or his accomplishments. "What accomplishments? What can you praise him for?" Yeah yeah yeah... The truth is that unless your political efficacy is out the roof you probably know nothing of what he's doing to benefit us, because why on Earth would the media release something that isn't controversial and doesn't make you angry and want to know more?

Pearl Harbor? FDR had numerous reports about codes cracked, and interceptions from across seas warnings of plane bombings of the USA. They even knew it was from Japan. You know what one of their reasons for blowing it off was? Assuming the Japanese were poor pilots. Why?: Because the shape of their eyes wouldn't allow them to see as a pilot should, throwing off their judgement and making them poor pilots. I shit you not. There were a couple more just absolutely astonishing reasons, that's the only interesting one that is coming to me right now, though. Just a funny little tidbit. I always think of that when I hear people say that Bush knew or something.


By the way I don't know how many of you have studied federalism or know what it looks like on a flow chart, but if you saw a flow chart of say, the Department of Homeland Security, you'd be blown away and understand how with our govt. it is extremely difficult, time-consuming and federalism is an extremely inefficient system to get information to the top from the bottom, especially in a fast manner.

That is pretty much true, however, they do give him respect. In every news article that I've posted from Associated Press, every article has Mr. Bush in it. Never just plain Bush.

Bush takes a lot of flack, but I'd be damned if I'd ever want the two presidential terms he's had. He's been handed lemons. We were beginning a recession right as Bush got elected, thus he takes the blame for that one. Clinton rode on the ".com" bubble and the economic boom that Reaganomics created, while Bush got the resulting downfall of both internet and brick and mortar retailers due to Clinton's tax increases and failure to stimulate economic growth. Top that off with a terrorist attack, natural disasters, rising oil prices, and all kinds of other assorted crap, things don't look good to the 90% of sheep out there that don't understand that what a President does for the economy won't really be seen until the next term or even 2 terms after (depending on the changes that are made). Bush has began fixing the economy, but it's a slow, steady growth and the results will be seen a couple of years from now, probably just in time for the next president (probably a democrat) to get all the credit for it. While he's not the best president I've seen in my lifetime, despite his downfalls I do feel he's handled himself admirably with what he's been given.
