Someone scratched my car.

sorry man...just in Revenge of the Nerds, Dudley Dawson was "Booger"

trying to make light of a serious situation. I would wet sand with some 2000grit wet sandpaper, then use a compound/wax mix to smooth it out, and finish off with some meguiars other high end polish. It shouldn't go through the clear coat, and if you can use it, get a meguiars powerball to buff out the final polish

Hum.. I've heard of wet sanding, but what does it do? Does it take the paint off?

I think there are some parts of the scratch under the clear coat cause I can catch it with my finger nial. And some parts where its hard for me to.

looks like it's through the clear and color.
that may need to be repainted.

that wasn't a kid by the way. you can tell by how fancy the script is in their writing.
That was at least a teenager.

anyway once you're into the color you can't just buff out the scratch. if you don't handle it though and get it re-cleared, you're looking at a future rust spot and eventual body damage.

damn thats hardcore, i was going to suggest wet sand and buff as well. but glass is right, i would at least go have a shop, or two, look at it.

I see. Well my friend is coming over with a buffer and he says hes going to give it a try. If not, it's going to the shop.

Heres an explanation of what happened. My friends, being sophomores, have a fun little thing against the freshman of the football taem, after practice we like to do drive bys with waterbaloons, and thye like to hit us back. Its cool though, we're both friends. One day the freshmen were walking down, saw my car, and the cool ones started messing with my windsheidl wipers like putting them up nad stuff.

This retarded freshman didn't know how much damage he was doing and wrote booger in keys. I comfronted him, hes very sorry, and says that he will pay for everything haha.

My friend says he can for sure get that scratch out using his buffer, do you guys think this is true?

if the scratch is only into the clear, yes you can buff it out.
If it's into the color below the clear, or to the primer if you have a base/clear one-step paint.. then no, it has to be re-shot.

either way it'll need a new shot of clear to replace the clear you're going to grind out with the buffing compounds.. any shop can shoot a small spot of clear over the repaired section for next to nothing though.. It's not like mixing color. You can shoot some spare clear from any other job on hand.

PS, just got my HoK color chip book in and picked the new colors for my car. Yay!
Now ya want to talk expensive.. lol

I recommend having a good body shop wet sand it. If it isn't that deep you wouldn't even know it was there after. Wet sanding is fairly easy but you can sand too far if you aren't careful. It shouldn't cost very much because you can have your entire vehicle wet sand polished for around $200.
