Installing 2nd amp in my friends car

And one more thing, for some reason, I do not see the speaker wires from my amp being run to my crossovers. I have to take my door panel off to make sure, but it looks like they run the speaker wire to the back of the head unit, I know it is possible that they ran it up there nad then aroudn to the door; however, I'm not sure. Do you guys think that its possible that he connected the speaker wire to the stock wire from my old components?

They probably did what I was saying to do last night, which made absolutely no sense for your friend's car because it was like 11:30 at night and I didn't even know my own name at the time :)

Run a seperate ground for each amplifier. Try and keep the ground wire very short.

no only do this if you are grounding to a distrobution block or to one point on the car. two diffrent grounds in diffrent locations will give you a ground loop

agreed...always ground to the same spot....

also i never use the factory speaker wire unless its a simple speaker upgrade...anything getting amped gets new wire.....

Ground Loop: This is a condition that occurs when two or more paths to ground exist and an unequal voltage is induced in each of the paths causing buzz, hum or other noise.

Here's what came up.
WE discovered that Volkswagens are really really complicated. Took us ages to take the door off, and even when we got the door off, we realized that theres no where to mount the crossovers.

In addition, there was metal in the back of his seats, so we couldn't get the screws in to mount the amp.

I was able to run the ground wire, set up the distribution block, and take a good look at his speakers though.

Weird thing is, when we decided it was a rap for the day, we put in the distribution block, and left it there with one of the power wires that were supposed to go to the 2nd amp unpowered. It wouldn't power up. I had to go directly hook up the power wire to the first amp in roder for it to power up. Anyone know why, does the 3rd power wire need to be hooked up?

Also, how the hell do you crimp those metal circle things? I used pliers and those woud not work. It was nearly impossible to even mroe the damn thing! I ended up using he insulation to keep it there temporarily. Anyone want to enlighten me?

Okay guys, went back to the install after a few hours break.

We ran the RCAs fine, couldn't tkae out the head unit, but we're just going to make the shop do it since hes getting his components installed there. Volkswagens bolts their speakers in, so he needs to pay someone to do a custom install.

But our main problem is that, we ran all the wires, ground, connected the REM wires. But we cna't get power to anything. When we connect the power wire to the first amp, it'll power up. But when we use a distribution block to do it, it won't power ANYTHING up. Anyone know what's wrong? Did we do it wrong?
