same.. i thought about going the spl route.. but now i'm kinda thinking sq-ish.

only i can't afford an all out sq system, so we'll have to meet in the middle for sql. but i do want another nice set of ocmponents in the next car.

believe it or not Keith, but you can spend as much if not more on an SPL install.

ooh i know that.. but i mean with a sheet of mdf and a couple mid level 12's or 15's i from just about any manufacturer you can get started with SPL... no bill, i'm not saying thats going to make you an all out competitorr.. but its just a system that leans more towards spl is easier to design and build, rather than a system that is more SQ. i'm talking the middle range, not the extremes :P.

this is a lesson bill needs help with.
CONTEXT.

he wants a SQ sub that gets loud. That the Q or XXX can do.
If he wanted an SPL sub, he'd have asked for one to begin with.
No, the Q won't be as loud as the BTL, but not everybody cares about every last tenth of a dB they can get from a car. Some people are happy with a good sounding system for music that can still get loud enough to make them mildly nauseated, and settle for that.

Will it make your mirrors rattle and put out plenty of bass you'll feel in your stomach? sure.
Will it win SPL events? not too likely.

I agree with you but as I said extremely loud can mean different things to different people. if Im searching for an sq sub or even an sql sub I wouldn’t want a sub that is "extremely loud" Is it loud? Im sure I know some guys in dbdrag using them but I wouldn’t say extremely loud. Im just as happy as the next guy with a good sounding daily driver, that isn’t overly powerfully loud I don’t drive around town burping my truck. I have used every single SPL setup I have ever put in my truck as a daily driving system. And by they way it has won SPL events.

i wasnt suggesting the btl so im not sure what you saying about him wanting an spl sub that is completely irrelevant in this converstation.
