is it worth the extra $$$???
o and i havn't bought the type R's yet but i plan on ordering from onlinecarstereo.com tomorrow and i kinda wanna keep it all alpine unless there are some other subs that are way better quality for the same price or a bit more...but i've read a lot about them and from what i get they are the best subs for that price.
ok and just trying to understand what all the ratings mean. the rms on the sub is 50-500W and the peak is 1500w . im basing the amp on the Rms correct? what is the peak rating mean? when does it hit that wattage if it ever does?
and judging the amp on the 2ohm load and the specs on the amp say
RMS Power (at 12V,20Hz-200Hz)
Per channel into 2 ohms : 700W x 1
Per channel into 4 ohms : 500W x 1
so its gonna be pushing 700W to each sub or 700W between the 2 subs???
sorry for the newb questions just trying to learn

peak rating is essentialy a marketing technique, imo. peak is what it would accept (in the case of a sub) or put out (in the case of an amp) for a very very short period of time.
yeah, you want to base the amp for your speakers off the RMS rating of the speaker.
it would split the 700w between the subs...so each speaker would get 350W RMS.

If your alternator can handle the 14 volt load you will be actually giving those subs a little bit more than that. Since its rated at 12volts.
Most the time I'd say you'll be around 12volts though.
The big3 will help out tremendously and you may end up needing a high output alternator but I highly highly doubt it if all your running is under 1kwatts

I'm with the others on the big 3 upgrade... Caps have their place, but never consider as a backup power supply.
What's the vehicle and size alternator?

ok so with this alpine setup ill be pushin 350W a sub. now ive been comparing this with a setup from JL around the same pricing with: JL Audio 500-1 amp running 2 JL Audio 10W3v3-4. (with this jl setup ill only be running 300W a sub i think) in your guys opinion which setup would u take for listening to hip hop in a 05 chevy colorado ext cab.

i live with someone that has 2 w3v3s on that amp in the proper box. I have also heard the 2 type Rs right up next to it. I think the w3 is a little cleaner but the alpines are great for the price if you build or have built a good box. They should sound great. And have you looked at wooferetc.com? im not positive but you might get a slightly better price on your subs. Type Rs for the Price. leave the w3 to the JL addicts.
