It's a 2005 Cavalier LS. Never said anything about cutting the factory wires. Also I know a bit about automotive wiring. 10+ years in the automotive repair industry. So I know what I am doing as far as stock/standard auto wiring goes. It's just this add on stuff. I just wanna do it right. Hence the question...

just add it btw I've been installing for quite awhile and never seen a cavy with factory 4 gage. I didn't question ur knowledge relax a bit bro as far as upgrading your wire no we already told you. just add a new 4 gage wire to all the contact points. do not remove any of the factory wire.

Ok thanks for clarifying that. I jut wanted to be sure and to do it right. I'm relaxed just been a very long day.

Been looking for that Crunch GPV 1000.1 but I cannot find it. I can only find the GPV 2000.1 which is 1000w rms and 2000w max. vs the MB Quart at same ratings.

How does it compare the the MB Quart since you all would prefer the MB Quart over the Alpine and MTX?

The GPV 2000.1 is a max rating its a decently beggining amp but id still go with the quart. its underrated and overbuilt.

What ya mean underrated? You mean it will put out more than it is rated for or that people think it's junk because it isn't BIG name?

You wont get better value/quality than the Discus at that price point.

one thing you will note about car audio is our wires are all larger than the factory sized wires. While it may have a "4 ga" in there compare to a car audio "4 ga" and it will look like a pencil.

MBquart is a big name and it puts out more power than rated.

MB Quart is top shelf stuff. I picked up a set of Quart 6 1/2's for my woman T-Blazer. Cant wait to put them in an see how they sound.

You ran that Discus amp for quite a while didnt you bill.

Guess I never really heard of MB Quart. Usually looked into Alpine, Pioneer and JVC before.

Since MB Quart is pretty good stuff what about putting up Alpines SWR-1242D up against MB Quarts PWH 304? Both are rated at 500w rms each. But Alpine is rated at 1500w max where as the MB Q's are rated at 1000w max.

Also since the MB Quart 1000.1 puts out more than what it is rated at (1000w @ 1ohm) won't that be a bad thing when I am looking at 2 x 500w 4 + 4 DVC rms subs (wired in parallel/parallel for 1ohm load)?

I know, I know. I ask a lot of questions. But as I said I am not used to going over 500w rms. And usually bought Alpine, Pioneer or JVC equipment. Also I don't wanna spend all this money and blow something up within the first month or sooner.

asking questions keeps you from spending money on stupid shit. Were happy to answer them. your the type thats willing to learn not the type that comes in here knowing everything. Both subs are good i would go with the alpine even though i used to be sponsored by quart. Your subs will handle the amp fine.
