nope actually the humidity has been high. i tried using both the onboard video and my graphics card from my pc but to no luck. no other cards are in there. its a pretty bare system.. im so stumped

How is the electricity where it's at? I've had a mobo die from a power surge (really really minor one too)

i just replaced the mobo though
electricity is stable

Can you exchange it for another? Just say it was dead on delivery.
Even a flicker in electricity can kill a mobo. Damn things are too delicate.

see the thing is, it will come on in stints. before it was on for a good 3 mins before it shut down, so then the mobo is technically ok, no?
it most definitely isnt the psu b/c i just replaced it and before it worked perfectly fine..
ram is fine b/c i used it in my computer..
only other thing i have not tried out yet is the case itself. is it possible though? that the power switch or something like that is faulty?

Power switch could be faulty, but I'm thinking it could be the psu. Can you try it in another computer? or another computers in that broken one?

yea i can use my parts to see if it works.. not tonight though lol too frustrating.. thanks for the help william.. im hoping its not the psu cuz i just bought it

Ahh thanks. Dell support said that all of 05's had it, but nothing about the 04's. (my g/f's hard drive failed not to long ago, tis why I know :) )

I had a problem with mine last year and tech support thought it was something that I installed and they had me do a system restore. My 8400 has a production date of December 04.
And by the way, tech support was wrong, it was a problem with the ROM drive (which is what I told them in the first place.)
