actaully a deep cycle battery will charge quick if you have enough juice to power it up... Deep cycle gel type batteries have to be quick charged with alot of juice and won't charge at all on a trickle charge.

uhhhh draining a regular lead acid battery as low as a deep cycle will kill it? get a deep cycle.

yup like Bill said, drop a regular starter battery below 10 volts, and you'll damage the cells in the battery, preventing it from ever being able to charge above about 10 volts again, and when that happens, the battery can drag down the voltage rails of the whole electrical system, causing all sorts of problems, beginning with the inability to turn over your starter.

This is exactly why we use deep cycle batteries for audio systems :)

did I ever post my paper on different battery types to the FAQ section?

I know it was on my site, but my site is down temporarily.

:i did read something on batt on this forum it had it`s pros&cons for deep cycle batt .but at the end it said better to use a starter batt.sense my stereo system has it`s own alternator :happy055: to charge the batt under the hood. It will be cheaper for now to get another batt like it than to get 2 deep cycle batteries at once. i do value ya inputs :bow

I have the Stinger 200 connecting a starter battery and a deep cycle battery. You do not need two deep cycle batteries. By using the relay you can mix and match batteries.

Thats correct however its still better to use an isoloator designed for that application.

^ True... with an Isolator you can combine/ mix and match any types of batteries and one has no effect on the other ;)

The SR200 is a "continuous duty solenoid" relay that is perfectly suited for dual battery setup. In the event of a failure some diode isolators will combine the batteries causing both to drain. If the SR200 fails the batteries remain seperated. If you are saying that it is not good for mixing different types of batteries such as a starter battery and gel battery that may be true. I don't know because I never checked. I have drained my deep cycle battery so many times I have lost count. My 136 amp stock alternator charges both batteries without a single problem. It runs a 1200 watt inverter and a 1000 microwave oven, and now I am adding my audio (small 500 watt rms) system. If I am missing something, please explain. I came here to learn.

okay fellas!!!! the way i have mine wired is as long as i am playing my system the isolator is active(both stereo batteries are together )for longer playing time . And when i turn my system off the main stereo batt under the hood will be cut off from the rear stereo batt so that they won`t drain each other over the 2 to 4 days that i don`t drive the yukon. ----- so you say i can still mix with the deep cycle? (basically their wired parallel)with the system on. :)
