What can a President do?

Well in the case of Bill Clinton.... They put on a damn good media show when he sexually harrasses women.... oh that and he can play saxaphone lol

Exactly. Those saying the president has all this power are wrong, the President actually has very little power, read the Constitution. (That doesn't mean we actually follow the Constitution today). Now the President does have an AGENDA, and through the federalistic tentacles can carry out his agenda, but thats in the form of bills through Congress, most of which die.


You can't blame Bush for something big like the Iraq war. Bush has cabinets and cabinets, advisors, all of the federal system, Department of _______'s, and not only that but he can't do anything like wage war, it all has to go through Congress, and I believe only Congress can declare war.To talk about Bush like he has his finger on a big red button is to be completely ignorant of the Constitution and the system the framers designed.

Now pointing the finger at Bush's entire cabinet, his agenda, AND Congress, that is justified.

the president doesnt care about checks and balances look at the patriot act sounds like something i remember from history class called the enabling act of 1933 in germany.

the constitution gives us the rights and means to over throw a tyranical government and i firmly believe thats what should be done

You are right thats why I said we dont always follow the Constitution today.


Under the patriot act, the police can enter your house without a warrant, arrest you without notice and without explaining to you why, and hold you in jail against your right...

You guys ever heard of Zeitgeist? It's a video put together to help people think for themselves and not be SHEEPLE. The 1st section is on Religion, don't watch if you are an avid religious person. The 2nd section is on the governments involvement in 9/11, which made me very uneasy, and almost fearful of the government.

Did you know there is nowhere in the Constitution or law that says you need to pay an income tax? They interview a couple ex-IRS employees who haven't filed returns in years, and who straight up quit their jobs at the IRS because they started researching the income tax and realizing it was unconstitutional.

i know a few guys up here that dont pay taxes legally. all the money they make on the boats they keep

But you also have to take into account that the President has a role in picking out people for these positions as well... Now I'm not saying the President is all powerful, but it wieghs on the people if he's (or possibly she... "I hope not") not holding up to their responsiblities as President.

And on the note about Income Tax... You're absolutely right... Income tax was created to fund WW1 and only supposed to be temporary, but the government found a good thing and just decided to hold on to it... BUT, try not paying it... to hear and say that it cannot be paid is most certainly easier said than done.

Like I said before... I've been around long enough to see Presidents come and go and I can tell you now that if the President had no power then there would have been no good or bad Presidents (which we have had both) and things would still be stable and always would have on all points of view.

The Iraq war is not declared. Technically its illegal. But, Bush is Commander and Chief of the US Military. The HNIC.

other than that - I won't say anything about politics. Everyone has an opinion, just like everyone has a poop chute.

i wouldn't mind canada, but they don't let people in.
