Help me design new setup....

Hey guys...

I picked up a pretty nice 1995 Beretta Z26 from a buddy of mine for $150. I'd say I did good except for it needs to be cleaned out, needs to have a fender replaced, and it needs a new motor, and it needs repainting (I'm just going to run primer and save for paint). All of which my dad is going to take care of, so all I have to do is plan out/buy the new stereo system. :bigwink:

I was looking through the car and I found a set of Monster Cable RCA's, so RCA's are covered, and I have a pair of RE8's setting in the garage since I upgraded my Monte Carlo to a single RE12". I'll either run the RE8's, or sell them for an RE12" (which may very well be what I do... I like the improvement).

The main reason that I asked this was because on my last car wich I still have and will keep, I didn't run a set of rear speakers. I liked it, but I just couldn't seem to get the front stage speakers loud enough. I don't run my system loud, and I actually enjoy hearing the words. I'm more of an SQ kind of person I guess you could say.

Do you think I should run rear speakers in this car? If you know beretta's, they run 4x6's in the kicks, and they pretty much suck alone, and I don't know if could fglass another door panel and make it look as good as the ones I made for my Monte.

BTW - Would anyone happen to have the name of a good, cheap, sound deadening company? This car has a few places where I think things may rattle (back seat in specific, but I think the spare and such may rattle too). I'm willing to spend any amount, but I'd like to get something cheap because I still have to primer down the whole car, and I'm looking to get different wheels. :thumbsup Project cars are cool and all, but when funds run out, then you're screwed... :(

You could start with the RE8's and then save up for something SQ wise I suppose. I'd say get some ID IDQ 12's or such. Better yet, get some Arc Vanadiums :) .

I'd definately avoid the 4x6's at all costs.

I had 2 berettas.

These cars are inherintly AWESOME FOR SYSTEMS!

Yes the front stage sucks ball sack.

Dont use rear fill...

Just fab up some kicks, you will definetly want to!

Lastly check out my Po Mans Sound Dampning thread...

put a good set of 6.5" separates in the doors (need to cut holes, but you have a roller there anyway so it's not like it's a valuable car to begin with right?) and use an amplifier for the components.
forget rear fill.
what you lacked before was power and probably a good front stage to begin with.
That's why you lacked volume for mids/highs.

I run a set of components in my car, amplified, and no rear fill and it's plenty loud and extremely clean and clear for the front stage.
It's just a matter of doing it right the first time.

I've been talking to dad and I'm pretty sure that I'm going to retire the Monte by the way he's talking. I'll keep it in the garage, but a nice system in a car that just sits isn't worth having, so I may gut the system and put it in this Beretta when I get it done.

This is what I have in the Monte as of now:
Clarion DXZ435
Kenwood Excelon Xr71P Components (6 3/4") :(
Pioneer Amplifier for components (not sure of model number)
Resonant Engineering RE12" @ 34hz
Eclipse 3122?? - Puts the full 175Rms to meh RE so I'm happy. :thumbsup

And lastly, I have a mixed wiring kit... Of course, I'll be keeping the good stuff for parts, but I think I'm going to order a kit from Knukonceptz and start over again. For like $25 bucks, it's worth it IMO.

I'll more than likely be running the Clarion, possibly swapping the components for RE components or something of that sort, definately swapping out the component amp, and keeping the RE12" and the Eclipse amp. How does this sound?

Also, I found a wiring kit for an aftermarket cd player in the trunk as well as a dash kit. I know how to work the wiring kit, but this dash kit seems confusing... Maybe it's broken? Maybe something in the dash is broken? I'm going to go look for a diagram right now on how to put it in, but something seems to be missing because it just slides right in, and falls back into the dash and I have to "fish" it out. Maybe there's some parts missing? It's just a black shell... no screws or anything, but I think I've found some screws for it, I just can't say for sure.

if you listen to rap and you got some real bass going on you are gona need more than a pair of speakers, ive had this problem since day one, i get some bass going on damn rap music craps all over the speakers(ones with heavy bass), with rock is completly difirent, i have had infinity reference , arc acs, infinity kappas, and koda components, i can honestly say one of these alone is just not right for my set up.So dont rule out speakers in the rear because somebody said so , look at youre car, amount of bass, type of music, then deside.

There should be two scews to hold it on.

One on the left and right side. They will be on opposite corners almost.

You just pull the trim ring off for that entire console area.

I occasionally listen to rap... Not a whole lot though. I'm not a huge fan of "cranking it up" either... I like rock. Pretty much any kind of rock. I like some bass when I need it, and if I need to show off, I like having the goods to be able to do it, but I like to be able to turn it down to actually enjoy the music.

I've had damn near the whole dash apart... actually, right now, I do... and I cannot figure out for the life of me how that stupid thing goes in. This is not an actual pic of my car, but this is one I found on the internet that looks exactly like what's going on in my car... Maybe someone can explain this in further detail?

It's almost like something's missing... :confused BTW - I have no idea what the circles are for... I have an idea of where the screws should go, but I don't see how bolting my HU to the kit is going to solve my whole problem of how that thing's going to sit in that dash. It would appear to me that I need some kind of tracks or something for this thing to slide on... I haven't seen those yet.

Hmmm I thought for sure there should be two spots on each side to mount the filt kit. You dont need any rails.

Mount the fit kit, install the sleeve and it will sit in that.
