Whats the freaking deal, bad luck?

okay, so i pull out my head unit thats been sitting in my closet for close to 2 years, Its a eclipse cd3000. It was sitting in my closet because the ESN was locked up. So I call eclipse 2 years later they said they will register it for me, just send a photo copy of my licese yadda yadda yadda. So i get it registered I plug the eclipse into my harness and stuff... I just taped the wires because i don't have a install face plate thing for my car yet. I call eclipse after i faxed the copy in, and they are thrilled to help me now... So i get an operator on the phone 2 sec later my car fuse blows? i was like sh*t let me call you guys back. So i put new fuses in and my radio starts up. But the thing is the faceplate is in the down position. I tried putting a cd in it,to see if the face plate goes back up and nothing. The face plate is working essentially because the screen is lite and all. So i calm myself down and call eclipse back. I was like my faceplate down and wont go back up. transfers me over to technical they are no help. So they transfer back. I said im not gunna worry about this right now lets just do the unlock procedure. So she says hold function and 6 and tell me what it says after that.... it suppose to take about 10 sec. So i hold it down for like 30 sec and nothing.... I was so pissed i said let me call you back. I don't know what the hell is wrong. Is it fried or what... Just one other thing. None of the buttons make any type of beeping like i thought they did before..... but the power button beeps but doesn't power down?

Probably because the face is in the down position.

I would unplug the unit for a few minutes hook it up. If theres a reset button nows the time to use it. It must of lost track where the face plate currently is. Might have to make it work by hand- without forcing/breaking it.

Did you make sure the face place isnt caught on the cardboard "dash kit"

Already did that... I first unpluggedit for like 15 minutes, thats exactly what i thought it was off track... I pushed it in thinking it was off track it went it so i plugged it up. when it powered up i hit the eject button it went down like it was on track but well it didnt go up....

No dash kit, didnt have the 15-20 bucks on hand... Just an empty hole.

Tell me you bought the wiring harness atleast???

The wiring harness at walmart waslike 7 bucks i only had 4...i thought 4 bucks was gunna do it then when i got there i was pissed.... so i said bump that....ill just do what most ppl around here do just splice the wire and do trial and error...

and that's y your eclipse is not working. you have a short some where in your wiring. Find the short fix it and grab yourself a dash kit maybe it will fix itself ive had them do that and they always just fixed themselves.

LOL... bill i was just kidding...i would never ever do an install without a wiring harness.....
