02 Trailblazer electrical problems

Post by Tim »

Okay gang before I go to any another forum I want to pick yalls brains. My wifes Trailblazer is doing some screwy stuff.

It seems like everytime she suts it off, she has to redo some of her settings, like for instance she keeps the window lock on, because our little boy can reach the window switch and he like to run it up and down. Well, it turns off like everytime she shuts the vehicle off. She has to reset her clock like twice a week, because it loses time, and it is getting hard to start. It cranks real slow at first.

I think it may be time for a new battery, she hasnt replaced it and it is like 7 years old. Or does it go deeper than the battery. Once it gets past the first crank it fires up and the voltmeter holds dead on at 14, I think that is just cause the alternator is running.

you guys gimme some input.

Take it to an Advance Auto or Autozone and have them load test the battery.

That way you will know if its the battery or worse.

Sounds like the battery to me. My suburban did the same thing a few months ago but it turned out to be the starter but your battery is really old. Put a tester on the batt.

It is the battery. Once the car starts, everything runs off the alt.

well... yeah we know that. But tell that to her. She has a very closed mind to stuff like that.

she got a battery and the problem is solved.

We all knew what it was, but it is still a good one for future refrence.
