Replacing tweeters

One of my 25mm ADS 2" dia. silk tweeters needs to be replaced because it's cutting off and on. I diagnosed the system and it's not connections, amp or the crossover. The ADS tweeters are very smooth and not harsh at all. The components are 125W RMS. What tweeters would be good to replace this?

I'd suggest trying to find a direct replacement. It might be hard for the ones you have.

Its hard to just drop in a tweeter on an existing passive xover with good results.

ADS went out of business last year.

I'm aware of that.. That is why I said it might be hard for you to find them.

Search the web, you might find a replacement tweeter floating around...

If not, I think you could still find a complete set floating around.

Otherwise you can try different tweeter, Maybe if you opened up your passsive xover to see what components are in it, and get an idea of xover points so you can look for a good matching tweeter. Another thing to consider is sensitivity, so you might want to add an lpad if your new tweet is more sensitive.

Passive crossovers are normally designed around the equipment you use them with, so you need to be careful to say the least if you plan to swap tweeters.

Figure out any and all information you can about crossover points, crossover component/schematics, and the tweeter impedance, Re, and sensitivity.

Then we can try to find you a tweeter that fits.

You could also consider modifying the xover when you pick a new tweeter. It all really depends.

We really need a model number here

22mm and 2" are not the same.... so it can't be a 22mm 2" tweeter...

Is the dome is 22mm and the flange is 2"?

ADS 246ix
Only specs I could find on tweeter were online: 25mm polymer-damped silk tweeter 2" dia.
My manual has system specs but not tweeter specs:
System: Sensitivity 91 dB, Re 3.85 ohms.
I have to take a look at the crossover.

I couldn't identify any electronics on the crossover. The component power rating is 125W RMS max. What is an lpad?

someone correct me if I am wrong, but isnt it esentially a attentuation device??

I was thinking about maybe Image Dynamics NX30 1 inch (30mm) Silk tweeters, Neodymium magnets, RMS Power: 100W, 900-25,000 Hz, Sensitivity: 91 dB, Impedance: 4 ohms.
or maybe JL Audio 0.75 VR075-CT, 19 mm silk soft dome tweeter, neodymium, 125W, 89 dB, 4 KHz - 25 KHz.
