Alpine 9833 wiring

I plan on getting the Alpine 9833 deck (high end deck yes?). Well there is one problem It says i need a 10 gauge cable running from the deck to the battery for 26 watts x 4 channels? Sony decks are runnin at 23x4 and dont need a 10 gauge cable. Do I really need to install it with a 10 gauge cable to the battery or can I just connect it to the factory wiring harness as usual?
