Hello everyone...

I'm a new member to this site & to the car audio world. I've been thinking about getting a system for my truck (2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 extended cab) for quite awhile now.. I've done a little bit of research on what I want.. Let me know what you think.

I currently have a Kenwood headunit with 4 alpine speakers, ( don't know the exact model off the top of my head) but it sounds pretty good. I'm looking into getting 2 10" subs (Alpine SWR-10D4 Type-R 10" Subwoofer with Dual 4-ohm) Voice Coils (Each) with a Rockford Fosgate Prime R750-1D amp. I mostly listen to rock/metal with a little rap. I'm looking for crisp, clean bass.. I'm gonna need a box too so I've been looking at these online... Atrend 10" Dual Sealed Subwoofer Enclosure for 1999 or Later GM Extended Cab Trucks A152-10CP - Best Buy and GMX240 - Silverado and Sierra Speaker and Subwoofer Boxes and Enclosures. What do you guys think? I'm most likely going to have someone install all of this, since I don't really have a clue on what I'm doing. I've had my headunit and speakers installed by the guy at Brandsmart.

Welcome to the forum.

When it comes to boxes, you really need to design your box around your speakers. I didn't look up the specs of the speakers or box, but usually a speaker will require a specific amount of air space to operate at it's max.

Also, usually I've found with premade sub boxes, that the quality is never all that great. IE, they use 1/2 inch instead of 3/4 or they aren't sealed all that great etc.

If you're going to have someone install it, you could see how much they would charge to build a box. They might even be able to do a fiberglass box, that could be made to fit and look more OEM in the truck.
just another option to look into.
