I was wondering could I hook my 1200 watt amp to my two 300 watt infinity reference 12s? Then are in a small sealed box smaller than recommended so i know that will help the power handling. I dont turn my head unit up past 22 because the other speakers distort so i doubt ill be using the full 600 watts per speaker. But my bass sucks right now, like it has good spl but not loudness. The other day this guy had 2 old beat up subs in his car, one was an orion and one was somthin else but he had a 400 watt audio bahn amp (im thinking it was the one thats 400 and then 800 at 1 ohm, not sure how he had it wired though) and he had the gain down the whole way, It was very loud, and the guys deck was only on 2 our of 40 volume and i could hear it from like 30 feet away and it was loud as heck.

i had two infinity ref 12's in my civic and i had a MA audio 600 watt amp bridged to 1200 watts wired in series..and they sounded damn good...so i know from experience that u can do that..just dont turn the amp up all the way..maybe half way and u should be ok...

uhm....that's pretty much the same thing. did you mean good SQ but no loudness? you could try porting the box, they will be louder in a ported box.

it will shake my seats and crap but outside the car you can barely hear it. Even with the trunk open. You know how u can hear most bass far away, well you cant hear mine loll

Walk about 50 feet away and then see how it sounds.

if u want to try the amp...hook it all up and set the gain all the way down. then turn everything on and turn the head unit to the volume u listen to the most. go back to where the subs/amp are and listen to see if they are distorting. if they aren't then start turning the gain up until they start to distort ( u wanna do this while standing right in front of the subs). when they start to distort...turn the gain down just slightly. give that a try and let us kno how it works out

man you cant talk about bad luck, i've lost 400$ buying a defective jl amp from a crappy online store, got the wrong ohmage on my XXX sent to me from RE, and spent 512$ on an amp that i found out later was discontinued....all in the past week or so...pfft...not to mention a couple late weeks of shipping on both the jl amp and the RE sub, and im only 16, so that was a lot of money for me to lose :-/


anyways, yeah ive had experiences where you hear a car and its really loud and you get out and its not that loud. it might be louder though if you are far away, probably something to the effect of how sound waves travel and such, dunno.

having the stereo sound loud from outside the car has nothing to do how it sounds inside. as long as its loud inside that all that matter...right? especially since dB's are measured from inside the car neway

im sorry that happened to you dude, its sorta like what i did when i first bought my system, i would have a nice system now if i was more well informed. Yeah its whats inside that matters but its nice to impress people from like 30 feet away. lol
