Killed my first sub

Late Night Tip===> 1
10" Boston G5===> 0
I was waiting on Tweeters to open on saturday (9:54am) so they could fix a couple installation issues. Long story short, I watch smoke come out of the G5. Luckily they had another instock and swapt me out in an 8ohm configuration (rather than the 2 ohms I was running of my arc 1500 gain was all the way down). Tweeter sold me and installed the sub and I was very happy that they swapped me out like they did.
However, I definately am not pleased with the output of the 8ohms sub, and I am a little hesitant of turning up the gain and blowing another sub. The salesman gave me the option of choosing another sub/setup and returning the new G5 that he swapted me out with. Lots to think about...

You've only killed one sub

?
If you arent happy w/ the sub, i would say try something else if you have the option. Go and listen to a few different subs and pick something else.
Might as well expose yourself to some new stuff, especially if the sales buy is giving you that option!

only one, I had it less than a month and this is my first system. I was just surprise how easy it was to fry it...
Sales guy is trying to push me towards a pair of w6's in 2 cuft sealed, but I am thinking for the same money, I could have a 12 w7 in 2cuft. I listened to 2 12 w6's vs one 12" w7 in their soundroom, I liked the lowerend bias of the w7... just dunno if I want to give up my trunk. Might just try a single 10" w6 in the box I already have... decisions, decisions

Don't base your review off how the subwoofers sound in the showroom. Often, the best sounding speakers in a showroom will be the worst sounding in a vehicle.

yea the soundroom doesnt have the same acoustical environment that your car does. its kinda like comparing boobies to back fat.

Whats that? Both can jiggle and move about when played with but only one you like to lick?

I am definately back in the sub market... the box I have wouldnt accomidate very many subs, so time to figure out what would fit in there or how much room I want to give up for a new box.
I am leaning towards a 12/13" w7 if I can fit it because it is the 'golden' standard, just hate to have such a mainstream product... time for some more reading.

What exactly about the box won't accomidate many subs?
