Car seat covers

Post by lotas »

Hey have any of you guys ever bought car seat covers? Not necessarily the type that look like racing seats, just any sort of seat covers, and how were they? Im looking to do some custom work with my interior (the door panels and such) and I thought it would look nice to match the seats with the doors. There are a bunch of them on ebay, but they look kind of cheap. Thanks.

maybe I've just had bad luck but any seat covers I've ever gotten have either sucked right off the bat or slowly began to suck over time to end up sucking to the point they had to come out.

yeah thats what im worried about, is that they will just be cheap or that they will fade very fast. Im wondering what kind of price it would be to have them upholstered by a shop. Thats probably the best bet.

DO NOT BUY CHEAP ONES!!! if you buy them spend the money and get the custom fit ones like 90$ i think. the cheap ones look cheap they fade and they rip apart.

ah yeah thanks for that, I was getting pretty tempted their to buy the $30 ones and just see how they were but now im gonna stay away.

I think I saw the ones you are talking about, they were around $95 on ebay for the front set. I will probably either go with those or have an upholster shop do them locally.

I wonder how much a shop would charge for a seat?

Seat covers are good for people that get dirty at work and want to keep their upholstery in good condition. They're simply a barrier, there isn't really anything inherently good or durable about most seat covers.

If you aren't doing it to keep your original upholstery clean, I wouldn't bother with them. You'd be better off saving your money and getting some really comfy seats from a junkyard car, like some leather seats from an old Cadillac or Lincoln.

Well one of the main reasons im doing it is because in my passenger seat there is a big hole (about the diameter of a baseball) in my seat, it was burnt, so you can see right to the foam cushion, and no only is it embarassing, but it looks terrible. Plus I think it would be nice to get some lleather, my dads interior design store sells some type of leather, so I could get it pretty cheap, I'm just not sure how expensive it would be for the labor.

Man try picking up a girl on a date and telling her, "Oh don't worry, its just a burn mark" as she sits on this brown crusty foam spot ;)

i use black leather "or pleather" seat covers..initially i covered the front for the sake of the tan cloth..i liked the look of the black seats and they made one to fit the whole rear too so i bought it.

the front fit pretty good @ about $30 each but the back is oversized and must be tucked in here and there

all together i spent about 100 bux and overall i am satisfied w/ my seats staying new and the look is ok

also got a black steering wheel cover so it ties in ok..ill post a pic sometime

got all this from autozone...god dont you hate that place.? :argh ..i buy so many unecessary things!!
