ok so my tweeter has been dropping in and out lately, mostly when i first get in the car.. i have a feeling it could be because it is getting colder? i know its not the wiring b/c i just took off my door panels and checked everything. has anyone else had this problem with the cold weather effecting their tweeters?

I'd check it's resistance with a multimeter. Make sure it isn't fluctuating. That's all I have to offer other than what you have already checked.

The woofer doesn't go with it right?

no the woofer doesnt go with it.. for some reason i have a feeling it has something to do with the cold? cuz once the inside of the car is warm is comes back and stays..

You are probably right. I'd just keep it at low volumes until it warms up (5-10 minutes I guess). I'm not familiar with "cold" weather heh. Cold to me is 40 degrees, but I'm used to hot weather.

could this be "normal"? considering there is fluid in the tweeter, no?

Possibly. The fluid could be freezing or slushing or something...

I would keep it off or real low for 5-10 minutes or until the cabin temp comes up to a reasonable level...

ok so i was messing with the tweeter today.. took it out, soldered the loose connections.. brought it outside and put it in.. tested it and it worked a'ok.. put the door panel back on and it wasnt working again! said, wtf! and went back to my orginal theory about the weather.. so while it wasnt working, i put my mouth up against it and blew warm air and BAM it worked!! i let it get cold again and it went out.. and did the same thing and it worked! sooo my question now is, has anyone ever heard of this happening and does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how i could possibly fix this? my only guess right now is the fluid inside the tweeter..

its only the tweeter on one side? id try swapping sides and see if the problem goes with the tweet. if it does then the problem is the tweet itself, if it doesnt then you know to start looking at wiring, crossover things like that........

well yea i switched it and i already know its the tweeter and has something to do with the weather as i said previously.. im just trying to figure out what i could do about this and why it may be happening..

if the other tweeter isnt doing it i would say there is something wrong with the tweet and take it back
