Theres been a TON of talk on this unit.

IMO its got so many damned feature built into it, it would be way to hard to effectively use it efficently.

With 3 buttons and one knob and like 5,000 functions ummm ya real easy to use

I take ANY and ALL eD warranties with a grain of salt and a shot of Jack!

:RE

Too much shit to be packed in a DIN size unit. They had to cut quality somewhere to make it all fit. I'll take my 8454 with an Audiocontrol DQXS as icing on the cake. I'm sure the Elementary Designs followers are drooling, though.

seems to be a lot of them around, too. cheap product that someone gets considered "high end" even though most of it is garbage. Seriously, the unit has way too much crap built into it. i don't think I'd trust a built in 30 EQ.

I saw one thread (can't remember the forum) where a bunch of bandwagoners were pushing an eD sub over a W7. Then the IASCA judge on the site posted and flat out owned them all, basically telling them eDs success in competition (read: none) :D

Thats fine and dandy and all, but its IASCA.

I thought that organization is practicaly extinct! lol

Its hard for anyone to say eD hasnt one ANY of their comps when you consider the market share eD has, the number of IASCA events and the locations of these events.

Im sure somewhere along the lines SOMEONE one a sanctioned event somewhere with eD.

Problem with this hobby is all these damned "sanctioning bodies". They need 1 for SQ and one for SPL and a mix (SQL) for the average person. MECA is trying to fill this gap. In a world where 99% of everythign is SPL biased its going to be hard.

IASCA isn't dead (yet, lol). There have been quite a few competing with eD subs, though. I haven't been incredibly impressed by eDs stuff, though it is competent for the price.

If that unit was what they hype it to be..i'd imagine it'd run up in the $1.5-2k mark. You get what you pay for. I'm sure it's not a bad unit..I just dont think it's what they make it out to be.

If I had disposable income, I would buy one just to test it out, then give it to my favorite person here who gave me the most points :sm29:

but then again, I do have a 16yo who could use it. LMAO.

damn I crack me up when I am on pain meds.

IASCA killed themselves.
They failed to encourage "sound quality" first and foremost over "flashy install".
As a result, they created the impression that to have a SQ system (to say nothing of a competitive SQ system) takes a $10,000+ investment in equipment and another $15,000 investment in fabrication...
...and "perception is reality".

ON the other hand, everyone knows you can show up at a local "bass off" with your bare MDF box, amp lying in a pile of spaghetti wiring, and run through the meter to see if you have a bigger simple number than the guys parked to either side of you.

IASCA also failed at making SQ a spectator event... or something spectators can participate in.
SPL isn't even so much a spectator event - but even my grandmother could figure out that the biggest number wins...
...and if you do have the chance to check out cars, as an enthusiast, you might be interested to see what they meter... DB Drag racing also adds a little more "spectator appeal".

Let's hope MECA does something different.
...here around Buffalo NY / Southern Ontario, they aren't...
...aren't doing anything at all. I've never seen a MECA event. :(
