Fried amp?
Fried amp?
i hooked up a alpine Type R 12" to a kenwood KAC-7202 in a friends car... he wanted 4 gauge wiring, it was working fine so i left.. he called me and said it stopped working... i went back and the fuse on the amp was blown. its a 40 amp fuse and the fuse in the inline is a 40amp too. we put a new fuse in and it did the same thing. i thought it was the amp so i hooked up a pioneer (i dont have the model its his amp) and it did the same thing. so i thought it couldnt be the amps so i tried a power acoustik LT980/2 and it works fine...
so are both the kenwood and pioneer fried?

You have a 40 amp fuse for 4g wire?

check that out. You need a bigger fuse for the power wire.

if the wiring is straight and the amps are blowing fuses, your sub is bad. usually blown and causing a dead short across the coil(s) showing virtually no resistance to the output stage of the amp.
If that is the case, be glad you didn't increase the fuse sizes. All you'd do is blow out your finals that way.
