i have a jl audio 13w7....big beast..needs 1000w watts i believe...right now using a zapco 1100m mono amp...what ohms does the jl audio run at, and how much would the zapco be putting out for the 13w7? i know the zapco only puts out 1100 watts at 1 ohm, so how much does it give the sub...AND...would a jl audio 1000/1 be a better fit for that 13w7 sub? bottom line- does my zapco put out enough power for the sub or do i need the jl audio 1000/1?

thanks!

i belive they have diffrent configurations. the coil configuration is what ohm the voice coils on the sub are. it should say on the sub.

he means is it a dual 4ohm or dual 2ohm..it should say on the sub or the box/manual it came with.. that will really help us out to tell you.. and for the JL amp, the JL 1000/1 is perfect for it.. if that Zapco amp puts out 1100 rms then it may work fine..

they are dual 1.5 ohm....what does your amp do at 3 ohms? it should be enough but for optimum performance i think something that does around 1200-1300 watts at 2 ohms would be best....maybe this for example

i would wire it in series and use that zapco. zapcos are brutes and it should power that sub nicely.

In all honesty, the JL 1000/1 will give 1000w at 4,2,and 1 ohm. So you don't double power when you lower impedance. The Zapco "only" gives 1100w at 1 ohm, that is a funny statement. Trust me, using the Zapco will do you justice with the 13w7, and the McIntosh will really do you justice with any set of components. Look into the Diamond Hex series or some Focal 165KF components. Both will do you excellence and your equipment is fine for your needs. If your budget was $500 for comps, then why would you go and spend another grand for a sub amp when you already have one. IMHO, Zapco is a better maker of amps than JL anyway.
