I was wondering if it would be better to build a new box ( ported )for my 2 infinity reference 12s or sell the infinity's and get 2 RE 12s and make a ported box? Im also wondering if my alt is lagging behind because it seems the bass gets less loud as i play more songs, either that or im going more deaf lol.

by the way, if i get RE 12s will they handle 300 rms ported?

Sell the infinity's and get the RE's. The infinity's dont get loud at all. The RE's do. Even sealed.

And by 300rms...do you mean for both subs? Or each sub getting 300 rms?

If you mean 300 rms total to 2 12's, they will be fine.

Yes, go with the RE's. Honestly, it probably doesn't seem as loud just because you have been listening to it and it is probably slightly screwing up your hearing.

Im a trifle deaf in this ear!.... 300 per sub, because my amp puts out 600 at 4 ohms oh they would also have to be dvc or only need 150 rms, but I would like a sub that takes 300. If i drop it to 2 ohms or below each sub needs to handle 600 and i just want a quick cheap solution.

As you play the subs more and more, the coils will heat up and the impedance will rise. For that reason, it will get quieter as time goes on. That's why competitors don't play their systems until they are about to meter. A second or third burp is never as loud as the first (assuming everything else is equal).

Playing at high levels for a while affects your hearing too, but this tends to affect your hearing in upper midrange moreso than down low (around 2khz or so).

Well if your amp puts out 600 at 4 ohms, then it might be a little much for 2 12" RE's. Maybe look into a single 12 that handles 600 RMS? Maybe an RE SE?

Anyway, 300 rms to those subs is much. Look into what Tedd said. Maybe a 15" SE? Would be a tad bit more then two RE12's but would be worth it. Maybe you should consider building a ported box for your subs now, before you blow money on diff subs.

Thats what im thinking, next income tax im probably buying 2 lethal injection 12s or 2 ascendant arsenal 12s so I dont really wanna spend money on 2 more 12s unless it was only money i made by selling my infinitys. Building a ported box for like 40 bucks i can deal with.

LI1 2's are going to want more power than that... the 187's would bye fine though.
