Bumpity, I just want people to know this. (unless they already do) I just found out about it not to long ago. Just wondering why the hell would anyone do that...would piss me off

I read it the day you posted it. Didnt really feel it needed responding to tho. Yea if i were DLS, i'd be pissed! Could they sue for that? Only if they have patents...right?

Beware of DLS, which are fake Morels, which are fake Dynaudios

Yup .

DLS drivers were designed by Morel, who licenses from Dynaudio. Dynaudio, in turn, licenses some technology from Scan-Speak along with the technology they developed. Since then DLS branched off and started producing those drivers in Asia.

To add to that, Dynaudio and Scan-Speak were both founded by Ejvind Skaaning. Then Skaaning ditched both and founded ATC (Audio Technology).

They all have similar roots. All of them have lacked development over the years with Skaaning moving on, ATC being the exception since that's where the development efforts are going. I guess you could consider ATC the new king of that hill. The pricing for their drivers are flat out ridiculous for what you get, though. You'll pay $510 EACH for a 6.5" midbass driver from ATC. And that's raw drivers.

Funny you should mention it. I understand that these are supposed to be superior to the IR-3, MD-140 and the CDM-54 .

For the price it damn sure better be. But yes, it's the only dome mid I know of that actually has a suspension.

Dome mids are generally horrible performers, but in the car environment the benefits you get from an enclosed mid can typically outweigh the higher distortion numbers. Primarily the fact that a car door will add a ton of energy storage while an enclosed dome is consistent in that regard. This is especially a factor in upper midrange reproduction. Domes also offer better off axis response than cone mids with the benefit of being easier to get good imaging from.
