Type-Rs? RE SE?

Hey guys, as many of you guys probably already know, RE has raised their direct prices. I had planned to get an RE SE 12; luckily, sinister audio has offered me an RE SE 12 for $220 shipped, so I'm still paying mroe than what old direct prices used to be; however, it's stil lbetter than the new $350 price.

While taking a look around, I've heard that many people have talked about Alpine Type Rs. It's about 500 watt RMS, while the RE SE is 600 watt rms.

My amp should be putting out around 400 watt RMS.

I also noticed taht the Type-R is very cheap.

Right now I'm thinking the RE SE, but should I even consider the Type-R? Does it come close with the RE SE?

the Type R with a 1 year sonicelectronix warranty is $120. The RE SE shipped is $220.

A little less than $100 difference. Is it worth it? That's the question. Please state your own opinions and suggestions for me! Please note that this is my first subwoofer and I'm not a crazy audophile.

Just trying to keep my options open. I'll be putting either one in a sealed enclosure.

I've had two type r's in a ported box, hatchback, about 5.0 cub feet.

throwing about 600 watts rms to each sub.

They hit pretty damn hard, i was very very happy with them to say the least. Especially seeing as how i only paid 90 / sub

You should be happy with ether one. I ran the older model type r's and they sounded great! So I'm sure the newest model will be the same. It's just that I would rather have a sub that no one has....but thats just me.

Haha. Yah, my friend recommended me paying $50 extra for a JL W6V2.. on ebay.. but theres no warranty or anything so I really don't know.

My 3 option sright now are the Type R, RE SE, and JL W6V2.

I know the SE and JL W6V2 are both great. Now I just need mroe info on the Type R

All are great, but like I said I would rather have a brand no one has heard of and blow them away. Plus you will get a warranty since it will be bought from Devin...(I think it will have one??)

Yah, if it has a warranty I'm pretty much for sure going with the RE SE.

AND YES, I can afford the RE SE. But I relaly would like to save as much money as I can. $100 is like 12 hours of work at my part time.

Go with the type R if you're really that broke. Since this is your first sub a type R will keep you happy.....for a lil while untill you want to get louder.

I think that's reverse psychology for "get the RE SE."

lol, it's just me and I'm an RE fan. But I really ment get the type r since he's a broke foke. 100 bucks to him would be say 500 or more to us. So I'm just sayin that, he will like it for a bit, then the "I need more will come." Gosh what am I sayin JUST GET THE SE..lol

Oh go with a ported box also.
