Kiki you should write a guide on this hehehe like how they exactly produce sound, I know it has to do with the electrical energy being turned into movement correct?

It's pretty easy to find by doing a google search.

pretty simple.
a magnetic transducer works by wrapping a ceramic tube with insulated wire and putting it in the middle of a big magnet.
as the AC signal is sent through the wire, the polarity of the electricity in the wire coil alternates. the electrical field polarity reacts to the magnetic field and moves in one direction. as the field is reversed, so is the coil's direction.
the speaker cone then is attached to that ceramic wire wrapped coil, and goes along for the ride.
that's a fairly simple explanation of how a speaker works.
there's a lot more to it in design to keep linear movement, and so forth, but that's pretty much how any conventional speaker functions.

there are other ways to produce sound, but that;s been the main one now for decades.

did you see tha glass speaker they had on pimp my ride a few weeks ago? if you did, how does that work?

it works in a similar manner to an electrostatic or magnetic-planar speaker.
yeah I saw that episode.

basically, the panel is connected to a transducer that vibrates the panel at the desired frequencies.
really its mostly for show. you won't get the SQ or SPL out of one of those you would from a conventional sub, but they do take less space.

ESL and mag-planars work by having a metal mesh screen that's charged with an AC voltage. as the voltage is varied, the metal mesh resonates to the corresponding frequency of the voltage thus producing sound. ESLs are amazingly accurate speakers, but very inefficient as a trade-off, much like class A amplifiers.. great sound, but they suck power.
if you want to learn more about ESL tech, see http://www.martinlogan.com
I'll see if I can find a site on those panels they used on the show.

the black guy did it himself, i was gona ask about that too, the only thing he said was that inside this **** lyes a diaphram that produces soundwaves. Its wasent made by any company.

ah. same basic principles as I outlined above then.. just hand built.
