Hey guys, Im new here but definately not new to audio. I know there is some animosity towards Caraudioforum and some of its members, but I'm seriously not trying to start trouble. Im just checking this place out a bit and what have you.

Ive been working on home audio with my father for over 10 years and have been doing car audio for about 6. Im a lucky bastard because I get to hang out with Dave Clark(inventor of the DUMAX and chairman of AES), Tom Nouisane (reviewer for a handful of audio mags), and a bunch of others that know way more than me on the second saturday of every month because they are part of an audio club I belong to.

If anyone cares here is my system(though not currently in operaton due to some fukking thieves stealing stuff out of my car in a church parking lot.....but I digress):

I had a pioneer Deh-p7300 HU but it was ripped off by the thieves and a cool guy on CAF that goes by "spl_nut" hooked me up with an old alpine HU he had lying around for free.

I used to be a chemist formulating liquid sound deadeners for a company called EFTEC, so I have gobs and gobs of liquid and mat sound deadener in my car (hey, it was free and its not making my little escort any slower).

If you cant tell I'm definately a SQ kind of guy, though there is nothing wrong with SPL.

It is nice to see someone else who is Focal bound here on the site. There are a few of us. I like the looks of the sub you got there. I definately want a writeup when you get it installed.

Thanks. I have been an avid focal fan in my home audio(mids mostly) and thus I moved my obsession into car audio.

The sub has been hooked up for some time, in a sealable ported enclosure. It is by far the best sub I have ever owned out of : JL W3's, JL W0's, Orion XTR Pro's, Elemental Designs E15k's(2003model), Diamond audio TDX's, Memphis audio Power Reference's, and Audiomobile Mass 2012's(the other best sounding woofer ive used). It has a moderately high FS for SQ (34Hz) but with cabin gain in my escort wagon it flattens response down to about 14Hz(measured at DLC Designs). My max SPL with it sealed and about 500 watts(Im very conservative with my gains) was 139db.

With this current setup I have won three independant SQ comps(read:non IASCA).

Yeah.... I work/go too school in downtown detroit and park on the street everyday. Its an unfortunate risk, but what can I do?

Its funny, I feel silly putting an alarm on my POS rusted 1992 escort wagon, but I dont feel silly putting big$$ in audio in it

i feel you.thats what i thought too. i have a 2000 cavalier, nothing great. but then i spent over two and half grand and figured four hundred on an alarm wasnt relatively that much... especially if it wards off the majority of people who do it out of convience
