does the starter click? i don't really have any ingenious ideas just going over the usuals. i know this sounds odd but hit the starter with a hammer and then try it.

I think this has happened before in a friend of mines car. She had an Altima or a sentra i think. I dont know how she fixed it but, she said she just disconected her battery completely for a couple minutes and then put it back on. and it worked.

I dont think that will work, but u could give it a try.

I have a 1994 altima, mine is an manual tranny. On the clutch there is a
rubber grommet, if this grommet is missing the hole it is in on the clutch
will allow the clutch selonoid to go thru the hole and the car will not
start. This grommet allows the selonoid to activate and complete the start
sequence once the key is turned. The factory grommet is black, I purchased
a couple of replacement grommets for about $1.50 a piece just in case this
problem occurs, it is very easy to install, no need for a mechanic to
charge you an analysis fee and then a part and labor fee.

Could also be the clutch slave cylinder.... and have you checked your clutch fluid?

No, no it couldnt be. The slave cylinder and/or low clutch fluid would have nothing to do with the car not starting...

Jack it up (use jack stands) and make sure the starter wires arent loose. Since you by-passed the the clutch switch put the car in neutral, turn the key to the ON position, then jump the solenoid and see if it turns over, if not, its your starter... If it does, its probably the ignition... yay, now give me a dollar. :happy055:

Edit. Yeah, smacking it with a hammer will sometimes get it going...
