New Sub and Amp

I finally talked a guy at work into upgrading his system. Thankfully I managed to steer him away from Audiobahn. What I did recomend on a tight budget was an Alpine Type-R and a Hifonics amp. I thought this was the best bang for the buck. Am I right?
He will be putting the sub in a sealed box. How good will a 12" R sound in that box and will it still get plenty loud?
I narrowed the amp choice down to :
Mono amps
TXI5006, 500w at 1 ohm
TXI7506, 500w at 2 ohms and 750w at 1 ohm
BXI606, 600w at 1 ohm
How would a 2 channel work out?
Like mabey a TXi6006, 1 x 600 Watts RMS @ 4 Ohm Bridged Mono. It would save some money but would it be worth it?
I also told him that AAs would be a good option for subs but it seams that they are still out of stock. Does anyone have an idea when they will be selling again?

Type R's come in dual 4ohm and dual 2ohm, that in itself will determine what amp you should get.. i have a Type R on a JBL 600.1.. just look at my Photobucket, and go to Saturn, or my SoundDomain.. Type R's really shine in ported boxes..

I gotta agree... if you really want to get the most outta that Type R then go ported... not to say that it can't be made loud in a sealed, just which ever way you go, you put it in a properly built and tuned enclosure, cause a Type R or no matter how nice a sub can sound like junk in the wrong box.

My friend had it in a closed box and it was plenty loud. He had two of them though :/ He was also running a hifonics amp. It was a 1606D I THINK, but he recently got a new one Alpine amp because he sold his two Type-R's for a 12" type-x
