gun question

Okay so i'm starting to think about getting a hand gun just to mess with, take to a range and shoot, stuff like that. Since i'm 18, and can't legally purchase one, this leaves me to rely on my father to purchase it. Now, i know that i can not legally purchase one, but what about shooting it, holding it, etc? If i had a legal weapon that someone else owned at a shooting range, would that be illegal?\

edit: i know this is probably going to be a state law type of thing but usually there is a general theme to some of these laws. i'm in SC btw.t

You can legally purchase any rifle you want. Handguns, no. You'd have to find your local laws on handguns. If I remember right, there are some laws that allow you to be in possession of one, so read up or ask a lawyer.

What are you looking for in one?

Not sure what your local laws are, but in Ohio you can't buy the gun till you're 21, but you can shoot the gun, not sure about above 18, but I know minors must have an adult above the age of 21 present to shoot a hand gun.

guns are so stupid, don't flame me... im open to an argument or debate. i live in philadelphia and a friend of mine just passed away, shot 5 times. man your real hard!, you can shoot somebody five times. i dont understand why everything has to be settled through gunshots, it's depressing... so understand my reasoning for hating guns.

guns don't kill people, thats all i should really say. I don't think a single person on this board buys/carrys/has interest in guns to be "hard".

Sorry to hear about your friend. But remeber, a gun didn't kill him, an idiot who had a gun killed him. :)

well the people in philadelphia, and other cities and parts of the world, have proven that they cant handle the responsibility of carrying/owning guns. my stance is that if guns were illegalized; eventually the guns on the street would be removed, hence there would be no more tragedies due to improper use of firearms. the gun didnt choose to shoot my friend, however, he wouldnt of been killed if it wasnt for guns. i think that law enforcement officers and the military should be the only legal occupants of firearms.

The only way you can stop improper use is to get rid of the mentality of the majority of the US. Getting rid of violence on TV/movies/etc and all will stop the majority of violent acts. Gangster rap needs to stop being glorified.

One violence here is rape. No other country comes close to the US in the number of rapes. The ultimate cause of rape is violence (and some other things but mainly that).

I think only cowards use guns on people. And yes, this is coming from someone who owns several. But do I have a CCW? no. Do I feel the need to carry one? no. I dont even keep ammo in the same safe with them.
