Can anyone tell me what a good HU would be, i'm going to buy one today, somewhere in the 600.00 range, Circuit City, Best Buy. Thanks, Steve.

First of all I wouldn't recommend that you shop the big box stores for a decent h/u... Most of the sales people at those places don't know any more than you do when you walk in about the equipment you're looking at (and sometimes less), not to say that they're all bad, but most have know idea...
I'd recommend you go to a local car stereo shop... In fact if you have a few in your area... Go to ALL of them... That includes Same name stores... Take a pen and notepad with you & Talk to them, tell them what you're looking for in a new h/u and what you may not need it to do... Write down your findings and price, who you talked to, and move to the next... Then when you've completed your rounds... Don't just go back to the one with the best price, but take into account the knowledge and honesty of the individual you dealt with... Then go back and see him... He'll appreciate your return especially if you tell him that you shopped around and you will be on your way to making a friend in the industry that you can pick his/ her knowledge later on down the road

600 buys a lot of head unit. unless your wanting video....lately im digging the planet audio 225.....its a groovy head unit with 5volt outputs that does a nice job....of course its not real loaded with features but i dont like features.....

Depends on what you want to get out of it with $600.

That's kind of the way I've done my shopping. I deal with a small store now (3 stores in the whole county and maybe 20 employees between them), except for my head unit, I've bought all of my equipment there. Sometimes the larger stores in the area will call the install techs and ask "how do yo do this?" To me, that says alot about the knowledge and install skills of the people in those 3 stores.

I went out and bought an Alpine 9885 today. Had an Eclipes 5423 but the CD would skip when you would go over a little crack,lol.

I was going to buy another Eclipes but Circuit City only had the lower end Eclipes.

Has anyone done bussiness with Basstronics.net?
