Yea i know this has probably been talked about before but here is my best possible situation ever....

Imagine a world that George Bush doesnt have controll anymore...
Imagine a world that we arnt fighting over Oil reserves anymore...
Imagine a world where buying gas doesnt matter anymore...

What the hell am I talking about?

TESLA ROADSTER!!!!

http://www.teslamotors.com/

Ok how fast is a Porsche 911? pretty damn fast right? 0-60 in about 4.2 seconds give or take...

What abouta Ferrari V8 OR V12 Car... minus the ENZO same if not a little more...

Now for the Vette.... God i do love this car same with the Viper... but 0-60 in what 4.0-5 seconds... right

Now whats the price of a Porsche 911 a bit over $100 k plus maintanence and gas

Ferrari is any where from $180 - $360 k right

Corvette z06 is over $80k and a viper close to 90K RIGHT?

OK Tesla has a range of 250 miles! 0-60 less than 4 seconds And its instant torque....

Gas? None needed... Its also 4wheel drive!

Price... ehh $98k not the best but still it will whoop any of those cars in the Quartermile

Now i know Someone is going to say... what happens when the batteries run out... duh recharge it only takes 3 hrs

Besides i think u would have to refill a Viper or a Ferrari before 250 miles wouldnt you? Maybe not a Vette though their pretty good on gas for what they are.

But still would u rather have to pay thousands and thousands of dollars for gas, oil, and maintannce over the years or just buy something that literally costs between 1 and 3 cents per mile to drive???

I am going to start saving up now for one, or Maybe what i'll do is get into a serious accident with someone rich and sue for a couple hundred thousand hehehe...

Anyway... I still love all the cars posted above but this electric car says "F U Oil companies, and F U George Bush in a very exciting way!"

I just watched that movie "Who Killed the Electric Car" the other day. I recommend you watch it if you haven't.

I just can't believe the gov dumped $2 billion toward Hydrogen fuel cell development. That's a very dumb idea IMO. Electric is definately the way to go.

This thread reminds me about the range on that vehicle being horrible. I JUST read an article (maybe 1 week ago max) of a company that has an electric vehicle. Fast, just like all others, with a range of 500+ miles. Full size vehicle.

The key to it- No batteries. They built and stacked capacitors to store the energy.

humm, caps eh? does that mean faster recharging? I saw somethin on a compressed air car somewhere, any idea more efficient than gasoline is better, it's going to be interesting seeing the transformation away from oil.

U guys kill me...

HOW DO YOU PRODUCE ELECTRICITY!

COAL!

We do not have the capacity to produce enough electricity with renewable resources. you burn more coal your create more pollution how does that save anything. so we go from oil to coal? wonderful what about when we run out of coal then what?

That's what I was wondering too, the electricity has to be produced somehow.

Even if they try and get the electricity from hydro, environmentalists won't allow it because the harm dams do to fish.

Having coal plants supplying all the energy is ok when you eliminate all combustion vehicle engines (or most anyway). There would be oodles less pollution just from not having cars that expel it.
