I've been planning an alternator upgrade (and big 3 wiring) since I began my audio system build, and I finally got around to making it happen.
JS Alternators For The Win
After doing some research, I decided to go with JS Alternators, largely for the lifetime warranty option. Unfortunately, I ordered the wrong one initially and JS went so far above any beyond to get me a new, correct version. They provided the absolute best service I have seen in many years. The new 320 amp alternator fits perfectly and is beautifully powder coated in “illusion cherry”.
Oversized Sky High Car Audio Wiring
As with the rest of the cabling in my build, I went with Sky High Car Audio for my oversized 1/0 big three wiring and connectors. I am a fan for life!
I used a Dremel with wire attachments to thoroughly clean all of the ground points to shiny, bare metal before making the connections.
Over 14v Consistent Power
I now have over 14v of smooth, consistent power. Prior to the upgrade, I would watch the voltage sometimes drop down to as low as 9 or 10v. That has been completely resolved.
