Aha, so he did mean dash console. It does have bench seats though, Al, so no console.

For the fronts, does anyone foresee any problems building some small boxes for a set of comps, above where kick panel speakers would be? I'd rather keep the speakers out of sight if I can.

:confused : I'm a little new to this still, does console mean something specific? I'm assuming you don't mean a dash console, or mixing console. :lgh

lol, thanks guys. You can't see if very well in the pics, but the window unit is actually only mounted at the top and bottom. You can kinda see the back of the seat between the sides and the fenders in the third pic. @ Ryan, ignore the red circles, those are actually mounts for the spare tire that n...

Up front it has cable-actuated vents on either side of the car up under the dash (lousy photo taken upside down in a hailstorm): http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/aaron_sK/merc_trunk/wtftrunk011.jpg I was thinking about cutting the vents themselves out, blocking off the hole into the fenderwel...

Need ideas for an install in an old cruiser (long, lots of pics)

Last summer my brother and I ended up with a 1963 Mercury with the breezeway hardtop. Basically that means the back window is slanted back the wrong way, and rolls down behind the rear seat like so: http://i151.photobucket.com/albums/s131/aaron_sK/merc_trunk/untitled.jpg http://www.adclassix.com/ima...

System for my brother's car

My little brother is looking for a system for his daily beater Buick. Problem is the car is probably going to end up sold, or in the scrap heap, so I'm not wanting to do anythat will kill the electrical system, or do that much work on the install just to have to tear it all back out later. His budge...

Yeah, I'm really leaning that way after tonight. I fired up my temporary setup (Polk 4x6's, MA Audio 6x9's) and it's definetly missing a good bottom-end punch.

IMHO I wouldn't mess with them. Mine are fairly disintegrated, and the fiber-ish stuff they're made out of is nasty and messy.

If you don't want to go with the spray foam stuff, you might see if you can make a really small flat box.

So that's what they're supposed to look like. Mine had the backs chopped out by some lazy install tech long before I bought the car. As for my own install, I'm seriously thinking about the Kickers that smoker recommended. Kicker claims a 4 5/16" mounting depth for the CompVR 8's. Right now I ha...

Something like this would work?

If so, that would make it a lot easier than trying to fab up some sort of really small box.
