I've been thinking of getting one of these. Both of these subs on the website say that the recommended volume for a sealed enclosure is between .8 cubic feet and 3.0 cubic feet.

It also says that RMS power is different for .8 and 3.0 cubic feet enclosures.

Can anyone give advice on these subs? Why such a range of enclosure volumes? How do I find the best volume?

I recently built a 1.8+ cubic feet (roughly) box for my old sub and I was thinking i might be able to keep that one.

probably. You could put the sub in just about any sealed box. Your total Q will change. The smaller the box, the higher the total Q, meaning, the frequency response will rise more before the F3, then drop off quicker. The larger the box, the lower the total Q as you approach the Vas of the driver, then you're basically in infinate baffle territory. Power handling will fluctuate with the size of the enclosure.

Someone confirm that info for me please as it's been a while since I've talked tech. :)

Yep. Box volume will change the low end extension/roll off. Mechanical power handling will decrease with increasing volume.

I've dealt with the Comp VR and really liked them. I had two 15's. The price you can snag them for is great. I would rate them around 6.5 overall outta
10. If you can get the VR for a good price I'd look into it. If you have the room, I'd go ported.

same here, i had 2 15'' cvr's, only had less than 200 rms each going to them, but they still got decently loud for what the setup was (crappy and small box). They really shined when i put 400 rms on each of them, an excellent starter sub compared to other baseline subs. I wouldnt buy the compvx's unless you have the power.

I'm thinking about trying the 15cvx since I just sold my RF Power T115.
