The Farenheit TID-407... Also known as the SoundStream VIR-8007, Power Acoustik PTID4007, and a few others... Has 3.6" screen, iPod direct plug in (cable optional), and just about all the rest of the goodies you're looking for.

ive been thinking and i would rather get a good hu with audio inputs and build a carputer. most of the h.u.s i find that have all the features i want seem to be made by bad companies. these ones you listed seem pretty good but i really want the ability to play avi files and have gps both which can be done easily with a carputer

Yeah sounds like a carputer might be the right direction for you for everything you really want.

If you're building a car computer, why have a head unit at all? just work a cd/dvd rom into the dash with your screen.

If Joey still has it, that Power Acoustik was made by Farenheit.
