Signal summing
We are working on a 2006 Dodge ram with the premium system. The guy is still looking for the right head unit, but wants the rest of the gear installed. Bunch of amps, subs and speakers. The problem is that the stock system crosses over the speaker signals at the amp, so we have mid and tweet for all speakers. I have a JL signal summing device for the Clean Sweep syste, but not sure if it will work stand-alone. If it does not, what are my options. Have any of you guys dealt with this? Is there a trick I am not thinking of? Usually I use a Clean sweep or Rockford 3sixty when integrating OE sources. But this guy does not want to spend the money on an integration device because he is going to replace the head unit in a couple of months.

Ok, maybe Im not understanding the problem.
The stock system has crossovers inside the amp that output to the various speakers.
You have installed new amps, speakers and tweeters- yet are haivng a problem integrating it into the factory deck?
Since hes using the Factory deck I would suggest a Navone LOC http://www.davidnavone.com/cart.asp?24&cat=7
For crossing over the speakers you should be able to do that on your amp
or he needs a crossover then.
Now if he wants a true 4 channel setup off the stock radio you will need the better LOC Navone offers and know which wires are what on the factory side.
All this trouble and he cant even spare $100 for a basic replacement for the time being?

The factory head unit has 8 sets of speaker wires, 4 for tweeters, 4 for woofers. The signal coming out of these wires is already crossed over, meaning only partial information is coming out. This would not be a problem is we were bi-amping, powering the tweets seperate from the mids. We are not doing that, so I have to sum the two signals (mid and tweet) in order to get the full signal. It is not that he can't spare it, he only wants to spend the money once, and a cheap 100 head unit sucks. A basic LOC won't do the job, it has to be able to sum the signal. I talked with JL and they said the summing unit portion of the clean sweep will work as a stand-alone. So I guess thats it for now.
Thanks,
