Turbo charger for an 04 cavalier auto?

Post by Mithrandir »

Can you get one? All the ones I see are for manual trans, is that because a stock auto trans cant handle the extra power or somthing else?

Hit up their boosted section. It's a pretty good all around cavalier forum, I highly recommend you join it.

Well and the engine wont be able to handle it either unless you keep it way down. Eventually you will want more, turn it up and blow the engine. Its inevitable.

I'm not sure how much boost the stock engine or tranny would hold, but probably more than the stock fuel pump, injectors and computer (tune) would support.

To run enough boost to make it fun (10+ psi) you probably want to do some internal engine work. Of course you'd have to do the supporting mods (upgrade fuel system, tune (engine management), exhaust, ect.

And we havent even discussed the rest of the drive train.

Ehh, it can be done, but the real question is, are you willing to do it (and do it right?)

Well the kits come with almost everything u need, injectors ect... they say the engine will handle 8psi stock safely, im just looking into it for future reference, ill probably be booster it when it needs an engine and tranny rebuild if the body is still good, probably 70,000 miles from now. Ill check out that site, either that or ill just get an cobalt with the turbo in it, except i hate the interior, so uncomfortable

I like the way youre getting at. I'm thinking a fox body lx couple, 5.0 and 5 speed. :happy055:

I just mentioned the LS1 car because he seems to be a chevy fan... I'm personally a HUGE fan of the windsor fan.
