I think the dealer screwed up the timing on my 04 cavalier
They had the water pump off along with putting new rotors and tires on the car and now its running slower much slower than it was and im needing to rev it higher to get up to speed.
Example, pre-service the car would hit 30 from a stop no problem without breaking 3k rpm, now its taking 3500,4000 rpm to do the same thing.
Wtf.... can you screw up the timing on those motors by removing a waterpump? BTW i posted this in jbody forums but u guys are muh friends so i figured id see if anyone here would know.
Edit: Computer controls the timing, could the computer need reset? Dunno if they mess with the battery when removing a waterpump, damn this is buggin the hell out of me, i knew it felt to good to be true when I was driving that car. Looks like ill be looking into a turbo sooner than later lol.

From what I understand the Ecotec runs a timing chain, a water pump & balance shaft chain, and a belt to run the accessories (alternator, ect.)
They shouldnt of messed with the crank/cam chain, only the water pump/balance shaft chain. Theres a special tool the keeps the water pump/balance shaft chain in time while changing the water pump. I doubt its a timing probably.
That car sounds likes like its been a MAJOR headache, hopefully things start looking up for ya.
I havent messed with the Ecotec yet, though the cobalt has the battery in the truck.
