new Pontiac Gto

Post by Evanjl »

my buddy called today because he bought an amp and two 12 inch subs to put in his pontiac Gto i think its an 07. It has the premium stock stereo in it with the subs on the back. We are going to run new power, ground and remote wires but is it possible to use the wires already in the car for rca's. Because i doubt the stock head unit has rca outputs (but maybe it does). Also i would like to keep the 6 disk player and stock amps in the car because i think they run the rear and door speakers also. I think i may be in over my head haha but does anyone have experience with this system or a website that shows how everything is wired.

Thanks

Hey that sounds like its goign to be a fun install... What you can do is use a LOC (Line out Converter) and just "steal" the signal from one of the speakers (most likely there are 5x7's or 6x9's on the back deck)

I have used David Navone's LOC with great success before on about 3 installs.

He is extremely helpful as well.

Goodluck! you can buy a harness but there not cheap! Your best bet is to just get yourself a decent trunk loc from pac or schoshe

Bill how are Scosche LOC's? I thought they were kinda "bleah" Everyone usually references Stinger too... Not my Cup O tea either...

Thanks just checking... I've only used Navone really and have heard some really crappy ones "Pyramid"

I've seen Stinger and Scosche on installs and can attest that Stinger was a bunch of $$ for what i thought was negligible quality.

ok so i should buy a LOC. I was looking at them and they have 4 wires coming off the back. Am i correct in saying the i would only use two of the wires and not use the other two at all. Also, with a LOC will i loose all power to that speaker or can i still run wires from the LOC to the speaker.

or maybe thats what the other two wires are for (from the loc back to the speaker)?
